I found this photo on my camera and I have no idea when its from, but I figured I'd post it because my tights are AWESOME:
I very much enjoy patterned tights and look forward to expanding my collection of them in the future.
On Christmas day I wore this:
Despite the fact that it was a very casual affair, I always like to have an excuse to dress up!
Our Christmas tree, which I nicknamed Seth Rogan (because it was a little chubby, but still amazing) and then made my boyfriend. It looked so lovely all lit up!
Some stylish gifts included:
Style bibles by Ms Zoe and Mrs Beckham
Makeup manual by Bobbi Brown:
Some makeup, including roll on shimmer and deodorant in my signature scent, Pink Sugar by Aquolina, some glitter eyeliners and a green eyeliner from MAC, plus a Sephora gift card
Any my parents also gave me a gift card with some money on it, with which I bought these babies:
THEY LOOK LIKE CANDY. I WANT TO EAT THEM. I AM SO EXCITED
Yay!!!
And today I had my first day of work! No one was really there, but I looked SUPER cute anyway (please excuse the bitchface, this was after work)
The cape and the skirt are new, and they're so fun! Don't I look so Blair with that cape?
Overall, everything is good and I'm glad to be blogging again!
xoxo

non-fashion related (well, sorta) business
I'm constantly inspired by film and actors. I think theres something to be said for film as an art form rather than just an entertainment medium. I think movies have a lot to offer in terms of fashion inspiration and inspiration for life in general.
Anyway, Entertainment Weekly recently did a list of their 50 sexiest movies. I LOVE sexy movies, so of course I was intrigued!
The list begins here: http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20241620,00.html
I've only seen a few of the movies on the list, so I've been making my way through them. Last night I watched Unfaithful with Diane Lane, Olivier Martinez, and Richard Gere.
Diane Lane is officially my newest girlcrush. I love stories about sexy, passionate love affairs. Especially with hot french boys!
But what really got me what this guy's apartment. His character is a book dealer, so he's got this ridiculously huge SoHo loft FILLED with books. Let me tell you, I would have ripped his clothes off right then and there. It was just so exquisite! I wonder how people get into that business.
Anyway, you can see a clip of it around 8:55 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxu6EMtTqdk
And from there you can watch the whole movie! yaayyy youtube!
Tonight I'm going to watch The Age of Innocence with Michelle Pfiffer and Daniel Day-Lewis (LOOVVEE DDL)!
Hope you all have a happy thanksgiving!

writing fashion
Hey all:
Here's an article I wrote for my school newspaper on my favorite subject: tv fashion (and BLAIR!) It's kind of long, but AWESOME (obviously, cuz I wrote it.)
Fashionistas tune into TV for latest trends
Every week, fashionistas all over the country tune into their TV not just for the drama and entertainment, but to see what their favorite characters are wearing. What started with "Sex and the City" and a shoe-obsessed Carrie Bradshaw developed into a stream of TV shows trying to make their mark on the fashion world.
Today, thousands of eager men and women vie for jobs at top fashion magazines. Elle magazine is one such publication showcasing 11 interns competing for one spot on a reality TV show on the CW network. "Stylista" is the newest of the more than 10 fashion-related shows on basic cable this year. The CW also features shows like "Gossip Girl," "America's Next Top Model," "90210" and "Privileged," while cable network Bravo produces hit shows like "Project Runway," "The Rachel Zoe Project" and "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style."
Certainly "Sex and the City" is the most well-known and beloved fashion-related TV show. Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte have made designers like Manolo Blahnik and Patricia Field, the show's costume designer, into household names, while influencing magazine editorials, store windows and fashion trends. Sarah Jessica Parker is counted among the top celebrity trendsetters, and the movie version of the show was so popular, actress Kim Cattrall recently confirmed the possibility of a sequel.
"The clothes are like another character in the show. They help make it real," actress Cynthia Nixon said in an interview with People magazine. However, the fashion-forward foursome of "Sex and the City" had a budget that allowed them to have a label-filled closet that most people cannot afford. To combat this, many Web sites began showing low-budget fashion enthusiasts how to "get the look for less."
A similar phenomenon has occured with "Gossip Girl," a show that some have declared fills the void left by "Sex and the City." The teen drama, based on a popular book series, showcases "the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite." Like the women of "Sex and the City" girls, the characters on "Gossip Girl" have money and designer duds at their disposal. However, the show's increasing popularity has forced the fashion world to make the looks shown on "Gossip Girl" accessible to those with lower budgets.
Blair Waldorf, one of the main characters on the show, single-handedly brought about the trend of chic headbands and multi-colored tights. Those looking to copy Blair's look need not look further than Forever 21, whose fall/winter line includes more than 20 types of tights and leggings, and numerous styles of headbands.
The CW's morning news now includes a segment showing viewers how to get Blair's look for less, and features characters on other fashion-centric CW shows. Web sites like gossipgirlinsider.com and gossipgirlfashion.com also show how to achieve the character's style on a limited budget.
Reality shows have also made their mark on the world of fashion by showcasing the "behind the scenes" moments of the fashion industry. The wildly popular "Project Runway" has become the springboard for new up-and-coming fashion designers, including season one winner Jay McCarroll, season three winner Jeffrey Sebelia and the "ferosha coutura" winner of season four, Christian Siriano, all of whom have showcased at New York or Los Angeles' Fashion Week.
Siriano also designed gowns for the models at the Emmy Awards and appeared on ABC's fashion-centric "Ugly Betty." "Project Runway's" host, model Heidi Klum, even wore one of Siriano's designs to the Emmy Awards. The fashion elite have taken notice with guest appearances by Parker, Diane von Furstenburg, Victoria Beckham, Brooke Shields, Nicky Hilton and Catherine Malandrino.
The show even produced two spin-off series, "Project Jay," following the struggles of McCaroll, and "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style," a fashion makeover show.
Bravo's "The Rachel Zoe Project" follows celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe as she works with designers and boutiques to style celebrities such as Debra Messing and Jennifer Garner. Having already established a successful career, Zoe is able to show viewers the glamorous but stressful life of a stylist as she attends fashion shows, meets with designers such as Erin Featherston, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs and Oscar de la Renta, and spends thousands of dollars on designer and vintage clothes.
The CW's "America's Next Top Model" and Bravo's "Make Me a Supermodel" show wannabe models working the runways, doing photo shoots, commercials and going on go-sees with designers. Shows like these give aspiring models the chance to show the industry their talents. Winners from both shows have signed with agencies and walked the runways in major fashion shows.
Fashion-based television shows have created a marriage between the high fashion world and everyday people. By giving viewers access to high fashion designers and name brands, those watching at home have become more aware of the fashion world and what it really takes to be a part of it, as well as making viewers more conscious of their own personal style.

Enough for Forever
Alright, I admit it...I am a crazy Twilighter. Not as insane as those little fourteen year olds who mob Robert Pattinson...I'm Team Jacob anyway...but I will admit that I've just finished reading Twilight for the third time since I began reading the series over the summer. The movie is coming out soon and I wanted to re-familiarize myself with the story before it came out. I basically have it memorized now. It's sad, I know.
Anyway, making this fashion-related...I recently discovered Polyvore and decided to play dress up with the Cullens!!
This is the first in a series. I'm going to try and do all the characters if I can.

In this town of halloween....
What would Blair Waldorf do, you ask?
Blair Waldorf would wear these fantastic tights and sit on the steps of the Met, THATS WHAT SHE WOULD DO!
The guard at the Met gave me a really strange look when I announced that I was feeling "so Blair right now"
Halloween in New York was fun but tiresome. I sprained my foot and have to wear flat shoes and hobble around like a cripple! But A & myself and a bunch of A's friends from NYU had a delicious time frolicking about and meeting interesting people and talking in British accents and such. I FINALLY found the pink wig that I've been searching for, and went as my popstar alter ego. A had issues with costuming so we decided she could put on a tiara and go as Kate Middleton!
Look at A's lashes!! The falsies look so good on her!
After a while we got tired and went back and changed, I out of my wig and A into a different dress and sans tiara. We went out again and some lovely boy on the train that almost landed us in hobolken asked us what we were dressed as, "peacoats and normalcy?", and then told us about the film The Warriors which is a 1978 cult classic and I'm watching it right now and am kind of in love. Highly recommended. It's like Gangs of New York meets A Clockwork Orange, but during the late 70s. Fun fun!
Last weekend my friend HeyKate and I went to this local band show, and it was a Halloween show so I went as my original costume idea, Edie Sedgwick!! It turned out really great and I loved being Edie!
NO PANTS!
test-run hair and makeup (sans beauty mark and falsies)
post-rain hair :( no good
LOVE IT!
Halloween is my favorite holiday. I think next year I might be Barbarella. But who knows, I'll change my mind a billion times before that day.

Gemma Arterton: Bond Girl style
Okay so, I love Bond Girls. I want to be a Bond girl. But not one of those ones thats only there for sex, one that gets a gun and fucks shit up. I want to be a badass Bond girl.
Anyway. Gemma Arterton is the newest Bond girl in "Quantum of Solace". I think she is totally adorable. She's been in a few films that I liked, which are St. Trinians and RocknRolla.
Anyway, here's what she wore to the premier:
BALMAIN. WHAT IS THIS.
She looks GORGEOUS.
so not fair.

Fierce Bitches!
Eva Green at the BFI London Film Festival in Alexander McQueen - Eva is SO DAMN FIERCE I can't even begin to describe. Love her in The Dreamers and in Casino Royale. She definitely is the best Bond girl.
Victoria Beckham wearing those badass motherfuckin Loubatain for Rodarte spikey shoes. They look like candy. I could just EAT those shoes. Well...maybe not. But...I DIE. Love Posh, Love Becks, Love Loubbies, Love Rodarte, LOVELOVELOVE yum.

One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
New things!
This dress was a target find - I thought it was so cute and I've been looking for a flannel dress/shirt-to-wear-as-a-dress for so long! It was really comfy although it didn't snap down all the way so I was a little afraid of having a Britney moment. Still, very nice. I told my mom I felt like a combination of Kurt Cobain and Norm Abrams (who is a famous carpenter, if you didn't know. My dad watches his show religiously).
These tights were so much fun!! They're from Forever 21 and just screamed Blair Waldorf to me (so obviously I had to get them). The day we went shopping my friend Lesley was wearing a black skirt over a black top and it looked like a dress, which I thought was so cute. I decided to try it myself with a black pencil skirt and deep v-neck top from American Apparel. You can't really see it too well in the picture but I thought it worked well.
Other things I bought:
From Forever 21:
(these tights are SO FUN and I've been wanting them for a really long time. Now I just have to find something to wear them with!)
From Victoria's Secret:
The garter I got isn't that exact one but it is very similar. I love buying new lingerie! It always makes me feel sexy and pretty. I'm very excited to wear it out.
MAC cosmetics:
Eye Shadow in "White Frost"
False Eyelashes - Being Edie Sedgwick for halloween requires dense lashes!
Also got black liquid eyeliner
Steve Madden:
I was really on a hunt to find boots so I felt obligated to buy a pair even though I wasn't 100% in love with them. These were expensive and I'm not completely okay with them so I'm going to end up returning them. Finding nice heeled boots that don't make you look like a hooker is so difficult!! I'm beginning to get disillusioned with them. :(
Anyway, I do feel much better now that I've bought new things. Being a shopaholic is difficult sometimes!

smorgasbord
First off, I finally met/hung out with the famous Keesean from http://yuhdigg.blogspot.com/ . He goes to my school and has been kind of this elusive figure. We've chatted on facebook and I always thought he'd be an interesting person to befriend, and then last night we finally met and spent an extended period of time together! Very exciting.
Here's my outfit from today:
I am quite in love with those red tights.
I've been on this weird 60s kick lately. I watched "I'm Not There", "Factory Girl", and "Across the Universe". I've been listening to The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Jimi Hendrix (and I'm in the process of downloading some Janis Joplin). Needless to say, I've become fascinated with Edie Sedgwick and I decided I'm going to go as her for halloween (obviously I will post pictures of how that outfit turns out)
She is just SO SUPER CUTE! And I have a weird fascination with tragic females, so she fits in beautifully. I've watched some youtube clips of her and she just seems like such a wonderful person to have been around. She was so full of personality and charm. I really adore her.
I know I've been promising to do Milan and Paris fashion week coverage for a while but I've just never got around to it, and now I am not sure where Milan ends and Paris begins. So I'm going to do the things I have prepared now and then go back over the rest later.
Balmain ss 09
ROCK CHIC. The fantastic shoulder-padded, glitzy military style jackets from this collection are so badass. They remind me of something Bowie would wear! I am not 100% a fan of the big shoulders but I think they work for this collection and Lady Gaga would LOVE this shit (I effing love Lady Gaga, by the way). The dresses are definitely red-carpet worthy (Grammys, MTV awards maybe?) and I think they would look great on someone like Rihanna or Pink. I would totally wear all these things!
Cavalli ss 09
Overall, I really liked this. A few of the pieces were very lolita-esque (like the first two outfits up there), some things looked like dutch tiles (third and fourth outfits), some things kind of hippie esque (fifth outfit) and then those big, poofy red-carpet dresses (sixth outfit). Somehow, the collection had all those different elements but it was still presented in a very cohesive manner. I kept trying to imagine Victoria Beckham in all these outfits. Some worked, some didn't, but in general I thought the collection was really lovely and very wearable.
Ann Demeulemeester ss 09
God, how FANTASTIC. I love how reconstructed and disarranged everything looks. It looks like someone took a sheet, cut it up and tied it together, but it's still totally chic and fierce as hell. It made me think of Jane from Sea of Shoes and her fierce ass Ann D. boots:
Amazing, right? I'm really into Ann D. and I think this collection was totally badass.
Lacroix ss 09
In the words of the fabulous Rachel Zoe: I DIE. This collection was AMAZING. Honestly, I just thought all of this was crazy good. I mean...:
BANANAS. ABSOLUTE BANANAS. Theres no other way I can describe it. I'm in love.
Lagerfeld ss 09
Okay, I LOVE Uncle Karl. The sophisticated, almost architectural silhouettes are so classic and chic. I really really dig that crazy belt. What really did it for me though was the jewelry:
SO COOL. Plus, you gotta love Karl's narcissism:
Brilliant.
Versace ss09
DAMN DONATELLA. This collection was something that every woman would want to wear. The heart details were everywhere but it didn't seem overwhelming. What she did with the zippers was just genius (although reminded me a little bit of this dress from Project Runway winner Jeffrey Sebelia's finale collection: )
But still. I mean, look at the details:
Really amazing up-close, right? I am really digging this. I want to see Miley Cyrus in that pink glitzy dress.
Viktor & Rolf ss 09
V&R was a little disappointingly, honestly. I mean, I appreciate the "wow" factor of some of the pieces, and they only used one model which was kind of interesting but maybe a little weird cuz she wasn't that pretty. I liked the makeup and some of the pieces were nice, but I was expecting more. Um, I like these shoes?
All in all, kind of eh.
More from Milan/Paris later!

Okay, I LOVE Uncle Karl. The sophisticated, almost architectural silhouettes are so classic and chic. I really really dig that crazy belt. What really did it for me though was the jewelry:
SO COOL. Plus, you gotta love Karl's narcissism:
Brilliant.
